Our initial reaction when we learned that Masaba Masaba was returning for a second season was how much enjoyment had been sucked up by capitalism. In other words, while we recall the first season being amusing and simple to watch, we have no memory of the plot. What other purpose could there be for bringing back such a lacklustre show for a second season except to witness A-list Bollywood stars partake in some clichéd conflicts? And indeed, that is what took place. Nevertheless, Masaba Masaba’s ability to be binge-watched is what distinguishes it as a good show. Any piece of information that keeps us interested throughout is to be commended. The plot is not earth-shattering, but it will make you grin often enough and bring back memories of why you first fell in love with rom-coms. Let’s wait and watch how this develops.
Masaba s Plans To Launch House Of Shaadi
The second season of Masaba Masaba opens with the title character dreaming that she is expecting and is in the delivery room. Her mother is attempting to match Masaba with her doctor, well-known Indian actor Kartik Aryan. We can tell that Masaba is concerned that she could genuinely be pregnant when she wakes up from it. On the day of her fashion show, everything appears to be going according to plan, but then people start to leave. As it turned out, they were headed to see Qayanaat’s show, a rising star whose designs are causing a stir in the market. Kareema Barry was cast in an excellent way. Masaba finds this annoying and says aloud that if she wanted to remain relevant in the modern era, she would need to work ten times harder. However, she receives encouragement from Dhairya, her investor, who advises her that the best way to move forward is to treat herself as her rival rather than others. It turns out that Masaba is not actually pregnant on the personal front.
She devises a strategy to introduce House of Shaadi, a clothing brand designed specifically for weddings. In order to debut her collection, she plans to start with a wedding that would garner the most attention imaginable. Nicole, her new PR manager, discovers the ideal wedding—that of influencer Aisha and Fateh, her fiancé. Masaba is partially clueless of her investor Dhairya’s amorous interest as she becomes busy with that. When he finally admits as much to her, she begins to view him differently. Masaba begins to develop a crush on Fateh as the show goes on, but she keeps it a secret. Because the bride rejects the first garment she is given, she is rather conflicted about the kinds of designs she needs to create for Aisha. She is informed by Aisha that she has not succeeded in capturing her essence. Masaba is compelled by this to reconsider her design process and come up with an alternative that is more in keeping with Aisha’s aesthetic.
On the other hand, she gradually begins to like Dhairya. But as their journey progresses, something unexpected happens. Masaba pushes in for a kiss one night after Dhairya has been there for her when she experiences an emotionally taxing situation, but he stops her. She becomes slightly abrasive with him since she interprets this as a rejection. She is told by Dhairya that while he acknowledges her capacity for self-care, she doesn’t have to go it alone. Later on, he admits that while wanting to kiss her, he refrained from doing so because he didn’t want them to look back and regret it. However, everything has started their story off on the right foot.
Additionally, there is a side story with Masaba’s best friend Gia and her despair. For weeks, she hasn’t been going to work and hasn’t had much of a social life. She even causes a scene by getting inebriated during the House of Masaba’s 10-year anniversary party. Masaba goes to see her the following day and learns what her best friend has been going through lately. She advises Gia to seek therapy and reaffirms her commitment to her support.
Does Neena Gupta s Show Fursat Get Made?
Neena Gupta announces on a talk show that she intends to revive her 90s blockbuster show Fursat after being motivated by some trolls’ comments. But since the channel where it first broadcast still holds the rights, she is unsure of how to proceed. Fortunately, the channel is ready for the remake because to the online interest. They give her a call and let her know they want to move forward with the project. However, they suggest some changes, which end up taking away from the essence of the storyline. Neena finds this to be inconvenient. In addition to this problem, she is not on the best terms with her co-star, Shekhar Mirza. He had ditched their show originally, all those years back, because he was pursuing better offers. And Neena doesn t trust him to this day. When she voices her dislike of the current script, he tries to placate her, as he is just happy that work has come his way, and he does not want to jeopardize that. When Neena finally decides to talk to other channels, Shekhar tells the channel head and signs his part of the contract. She comes to know this and tells him that it was her fault for trusting him, and now she is going to do what she wants. She refuses to sign the contract for the revival of Fursat and decides to follow her heart.
At Masaba s end, she is on her way to Kashmir with the bridal party for the wedding. But at the last minute, Fateh gets cold feet, and he misses his flight on purpose. Masaba misses her flight as well, and they both hire a taxi to get to their destination. As they are making their way to the place, Fateh confesses that if he had met Masaba before, he would not be marrying Aisha. He kisses her, but Masaba rejects his advances. Once they reach the wedding venue, at the sangeet, it is rather awkward. Masaba makes her way back to her room, only to find a heartfelt message from Dhairya, telling her that he wants their first kiss to be perfect. Masaba smiles, and now she knows what she truly wants. She calls Dhairya when suddenly she hears a knock on her door. It is Fateh, and he tells her that he wants to spend the night with her. Masaba puts him in his place and tells him that she and Aisha both deserve better. Unfortunately, Dhairya has heard their conversation, but only in the first part of it, where Fateh talks about their kiss earlier in the day. He is heartbroken and is thinking about what to do next.
On the wedding day, Masaba and Aisha have a heartfelt talk, where she asks the bride about her plans for her life. Aisha tells her that while she realizes that everything doesn t go according to plan, having them in the first place provides a purpose and a goal to work towards. Masaba realizes that Aisha will be alright and wishes her the best in her life. She leaves for Mumbai soon after.

Final Thoughts: What Works For Masaba Masaba Season 2?
Honestly, it s the pacing and the characters. Masaba Masaba Season 2 really does not believe in indulging itself. It s made for the audience and respects their time. In 7 episodes, it has proved to be the most entertaining thing to come from Netflix in probably the whole month. And then there is the cast. They do such a good job with their roles. Perks of playing themselves, probably. The show does a great job with cultural references be it when Neena Gupta discusses the falling quality of serials, or when Masaba s pointed remarks on a reality show are turned into a song, it is all proof of great writing. What is not great writing is when they use Instagram captions for dialogue in a few scenes, like when Masaba talks about the struggle of balancing her personal and professional life or when she discusses the need for more inclusive clothing. Our favorite characters were Dhairya and Neena Gupta, and Masaba Gupta herself, who was a greater delight to watch than her performance last season. We would definitely recommend this to our friends and are eagerly waiting for Season 3.
