Anek, a recent Netflix movie, is on the politics of North-East India. Due to their separation from the rest of India, rebel groups in the North-East have been calling for the creation of a separate country since since India gained its independence. People from the North and East have traditionally experienced severe prejudice inside their own nation. There have been tales of people abusing the Northeast community during the pandemic and accusing them of spreading the disease across the country. The seven sister states, where there are ongoing disputes between the federal government and local uprisings, are the subject of the film, which was directed by Anubhav Sinha. Anek is a crucial movie for Indians who are ignorant of North-East politics, yet it has trouble telling the subject naturally. The romance between the characters Aman and Aido was excruciatingly stilted, the conversation is lifeless, and the characters lack substance.

Under the alias Joshua, Aman (Ayushmann Khurrana) is an undercover agent who presently resides in North-East India (the state is not revealed). His goal was to establish control-based peace. By striking a peace agreement with the well-known militant group Tiger Sanga, the Central Government hoped to put an end to the conflict. The plan was to maintain adhering to the Indian constitution while allowing Tiger Sanga to lead the state government. While the remaining militant organisations had agreed to back the Tiger Sanga, another militant organisation known as Johnson was on the rise. The Indian government set up Johnson to put pressure on Tiger Sanga to sign the peace agreement. To advertise the rebel group, they made use of a vintage photograph of Rongmo, a former Tiger Sanga member. The emergence of another militant group put Tiger Sanga’s status as the exclusive representative of the North-people East’s in jeopardy. They would therefore be compelled to accept the concessions made by the Indian government in order to maintain their authority and position.
Johnson was established by the Indian government, but a group began operating under the same name. They disapproved of the peace agreement and felt that by complying with the Central Government’s demands, the Tiger Sanga were betraying their people. By promoting local enterprises, they hoped to boost their local economy. They thought that achieving economic independence would help them effectively press for the creation of a new country. They also believed that education was crucial since it was the only way they could present their case and explain their position. Although they opposed violence, they were ready to use it if necessary to forward their cause. The general public began to embrace the I’m with Johnson group, and many contributed to the cause. Prior to approving the peace agreement, Aman was instructed by his supervisor, Abrar Butt, to track down the new militant group. They now had to deal with a real issue in addition to what they had thought would help them control Tiger Sanga.
Aido was there amidst it all. a teenage fighter who wanted to fight for India. She encountered several racist comments after moving to New Delhi, but she persisted in thinking that she could represent her people by playing sports. She worked tremendously hard to achieve her goal of drawing India’s attention to the North East. Aman first met Aido in her village, where they quickly grew close and developed romantic feelings for one another. Being friends with Aido was part of Aman’s work, but Aido just knew Aman as Joshua and had no idea of his connection to the Indian government.

Joshua ran a little cafe in the neighbourhood. He went about his daily business with the people while talking about the mission he had been given in private. Emma worked at the cafe; she was fully aware of the situation and thought that the government’s intervention would bring about peace in the hills. She was worried about her small son, Niko, who resided in the village and had neighbourhood pals who belonged to the Johnson militant group. Niko never joined the military but he used to feed his pals. Niko made an effort to stay out of the turmoil, but he could not help but see the damage that the battle between the police and the rebels was causing. He witnessed the police set fire to paddy fields, which the peasants depended on for money, in an effort to coerce them into disclosing Horen’s whereabouts.

Since Niko was wearing the same headgear as the militant organisation, the cops detained him. He was bound to bamboo shoots after being stripped off. To find out more about Johnson, the police had rounded up almost every young person and viciously tortured them. Aman responded to Emma’s request for assistance by driving to the station to assist Niko. Emma suggested to Niko that he move to Delhi for a safe future after saving him from the savagery, but he refused. He cherished his hometown and desired to continue farming there. He simply desired to lead a routine life in his hamlet, not one of luxury. Niko began assisting his buddies who were being pursued by Tiger Sanga’s men as soon as he arrived back in his hamlet. It was getting harder for the group to survive because they were being targeted by both the police and the Tiger Sanga. The majority of the group’s members were young children who took up arms to defend the values that their parents had formerly held. Niko lost his cousin in a battle with the Tiger Sanga warriors. That was the day he picked up a gun and killed a man. He was driven to turn to violence by the agony of witnessing his sibling die.
