Brian Cox Dishes On His Las Vegas Wedding Involving ‘Braveheart’ Theme And No Elvis

While Brian Cox had no reservations with officiating a wedding in Las Vegas, he refused to allow Elvis to do so.

On Friday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, The Succession star recalled his 2002 wedding and told hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest that the details of that day have lingered in my brain ever since.

Cox declared, “My darling wife and I chose to get married.” She had been traveling, so we had actually been apart for a while before sitting together and discussing our next steps. Do we end here or do we continue? And we said, “Well, let’s continue.” Let’s tie the knot.

The 76-year-old and his wife, fellow actor Nicole Ansari-Cox, chose the iconic White Chapel as the location for their impromptu wedding.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck also had their own wedding at the Vegas landmark.

Regarding the ceremony, Cox commented, “That was great.” A charming lady accepted the service. Her mother also performed on the piano. She performed as we walked down the aisle. She played the Braveheart theme since she knew I was Scottish, but I don’t think she comprehended it.

In Braveheart, Cox played Argyle Wallace, who fought alongside his nephew William Wallace in the First War of Scottish Independence against the English.

William was portrayed by Mel Gibson, who won the Best Picture and Best Director Oscars.

James Horner‘s unforgettable score for the movie provides a very romantic tone, but it also prominently features flute and bagpipe orchestrations. For his wedding, Cox was likely content with a straightforward piano performance and was more worried about the officiant.

The Succession actor channeled his inner Logan Roy and nearly uttered a curse on daytime television when Rippa asked if fans had contacted him about the Las Vegas event and if Cox had demanded an Elvis Presley mimic do the honors.
